More AR Reading Log information

Good morning parents!

By now, I'm sure you are saturated with information regarding AR homework.  HOWEVER, I needed to add a couple more things.  Today, 13 students did not turn in a completed AR Reading Log.  As a result, they received the equivalent of 5 O's, since the grades were counted for 5 assignments at 100 points each.  This homework REPLACED spelling sentences and vocabulary worksheets, making it do-able, applicable to the curriculum, and flexible since it went home in advance.  Several students have their logs returned to them today for parent signatures in ink.  Please return those tomorrow.  On the other hand, most students turned in correctly completed AR logs, complete with the required information, as well as parent initials and signatures in ink.  THANK YOU!!!  (I'M SMILING!)  Here are a few more details:
1.  Students are not allowed to use the AR books that they've checked out while taking an AR test.  This was strictly "outlawed" school-wide last year.  Students in fourth grade are ONLY allowed to use the Wonders leveled readers while taking a test in my classroom.  Why?  Because rereading is a comprehension strategy and many of these books are non-fiction and challenging.  The students are encouraged to use the leveled reader to apply the rereading skill in order to locate information and answer the question correctly.
2.  Students should take the AR test on the books that they are logging on their AR reading logs.
3.  Next week, the Reading log has a front and a back.  The front is for Oct. 17-23 and the back is for Oct. 24-30.

I understand some parents are frustrated, and I'm making every attempt to provide you information that is clear and concise.  However, I am more than happy to answer your individual questions.
