Starting on Monday, the Florida Studies Weekly homework will typically follow a similar pattern:
Monday- Read the entire newspaper and complete the word puzzle
Tuesday- Answer half of the Think and Review questions in COMPLETE sentences on notebook paper. Question example- Who wrote the state song? Answer Example- Stephen Foster wrote the state song. Answers should be written legibly and demonstrate correct capitalization, punctuation and spelling.
Wednesday- Answer the remaining Think and Review questions in complete sentences on the same piece of notebook paper.
Thursday- Return all work.
If the pattern varies, check your child's agenda book for the instructions, as they should be writing it down. Just for fun, your child is welcome to complete any other activities found within that week's edition.
The weekly quiz will be given in class. It usually contains 10 multiple choice questions. THE QUESTIONS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME AS THE ONES THAT STUDENTS ANSWERED ALREADY ON THE THINK AND REVIEW QUESTIONS! If they have correctly answered those questions for homework, they should be able to earn an A on the quiz. ALSO, STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO USE THEIR THINK AND REVIEW QUESTIONS AND THEIR NEWSPAPER DURING THE QUIZ!
Rather than entering 3 grades for the 3 homework assignments, we will enter one score that equals 300 points. If your child completed all 3 assignments, their score will show 300; if they completed, 2 their score will show 200; if they completed 1, their score will show 100; if they didn't complete any, their score will show 0. We will write in their agenda book which assignment(s) they didn't complete. Keep in mind, a score of 100 out of 300 points is equal to one A and 2 F's.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
