Dear Parents,
I did a check today to see how students were coming along with the completion of their AR Reading Logs and the results weren't promising! Of course, the log isn't due until Thursday, but since it went home on Friday, I expected to see logs with at least 2 days completed. I observed that only 18 students out of approximately 46 were on the right track at this time. This would be defined as having at least 2 days CORRECTLY and neatly filled out and having a parent's initials on each day that the student read. This assignment has taken the place of spelling sentences and vocabulary worksheets, and is intended to improve the reading achievement of my students.
I am hopeful that on Thursday, students will hand in logs indicating: reading that took place for a minimum of 20 minutes for five days ; the book title; your initials; and the date. The short written response will be neatly written in pencil with correct capitalization, punctuation and spelling. Please be reminded that this assignment should be done only with AR books!
